The Best Place To Stay in Genoa, Italy: Grand Hotel Savoia
The Grand Hotel Savoia is a top-rated five-star hotel in Genoa and quite fancy if I do say so myself. It’s also super historic. Despite being built in 1897, it looks brand spanking new, so they obviously care about the appearance and upkeep of the building.
This luxury hotel has everything you could possibly want (and some things that you didn’t even know you needed). I’m all for balling on a budget, but sometimes, breaking the bank is an absolute necessity. Especially if you’re staying in a city like Genoa, how can you not?
Everything about this hotel and its location is on point. The staff is amazing, and the rooms are immaculate. The hotel itself is connected to the convention center and located near the Port of Genoa Cruise Ship Terminal.

How To Get To Grand Hotel Savoia
If you’re flying into Genoa, this hotel is literally so easy to get to from the airport. It’s only a short 15-minute drive, or you can take the bus if you want, but it’s much easier to take a car or taxi, especially since it’s not that far.
You won’t be paying that much at all. And you’re already staying at one of the nicest luxury hotels in the city center, so the cost of getting there shouldn’t really deter you at this point.
- By Car: Get on SS 1 from Via Pionieri e Aviatori d’Italia, take Via Milano to Via S. Benedetto, then take Via Andrea Doria to Salita della Provvidenza. Definitely use GPS for this route as Italian roads can get confusing.
- By Bus: Walk from the airport to the Genova Cornigliano station and hop on the Genova Nervi bus. This is a 10-minute ride with one stop on the way and depart at Genova Piazza Principe. For ticket information, visit Trenitalia.
There is also a hotel shuttle for an extra charge if you’d rather just avoid the hassle of figuring out your own way there.

The amenities here are so extensive that you won’t even know what you were missing at other hotels until you stay here. This hotel is also committed to sustainability, so there’s no plastic anything; only reusable cups and tableware.
Check out some of the more popular amenities this hotel offers below:

Room Options
The 117 rooms at this hotel are IMMACULATE, and that’s not an exaggeration.
You’ll get that classic Italian Renaissance vibe in any room you decide on. You can select from a classic double room all the way up to a suite with tons of bells and whistles. But honestly, there is no bad room in this hotel. They’re all extravagant in their own way, and most have a city view over Genoaโs historic rooftops, with select rooms and the rooftop terrace offering broader views toward the harbor.
All of the rooms sleep between three to five people and come with classic Italian decor and ensuite bathrooms. Although, the suites have jacuzzi tubs (of course) and much larger bathrooms. Either way, you’ll be living in luxury no matter which room you select.
