Spiaggia di Boccadasse

If you want the stereotypical Italian beach – the kind you always see on laptop screensavers – then Spiaggia di Boccadasse is the ultimate destination. The beach here is more pebbly than sandy, and the backdrop is Piazza Nettuno, a cobbled square home to trattoria restaurants and various gelato shops. I’d give this beach a 10/10 just for the convenience and everything you can experience in one location.

Spiaggia Sotto La Chiesa

Spiaggia di San Michele di Pagana

The name of this beach might be long, but it’s just a short distance from the center of Genoa. This is actually a former fishing hamlet with buildings in the typical colors seen on the coast and three beaches along the same bay.

There’s one beach to the south called Travello and one to the north called Pomaro. The main beach sits between those two and has super fine sand, some excellent dining options, and a jetty where you can dive into the clear, blue waters.

There isn’t much in the way of facilities, but the experience of just being there is all you really need.
